UI Design

client & task

Hilti is based in Schaan, Liechtenstein and develops and manufactures products, systems, software and services that provide the construction and energy sectors. The company runs one of the world's top graduate programs.

To create a microsite for graduates on the 2-year Outperformer program that fulfils two needs; to recruit high-calibre of applicants and as a connection tool for existing outperformers.

I was involved in the UX and UI from the start of this project. We ran workshops with the client in order to prioritise their requirements. We had to work with the brand's existing design systems and create a fresh, modern look and feel. We put an emphasis on the graduates own content to create a modern editorial style and introduced icons were possible. We completed a functional MVP prototype in 2 weeks which is now being used by the graduates.

The solution

The process

UI design

From basic wireframes, I designed UI pages in mobile, desktop and tablet (with a focus on mobile & tablet) following Hilti's existing brand guidelines. The challenge was to adhere to the guidelines but be creative and fresh with the look and feel too. Our core screens were the homepage and search functionality, "moments" and profile pages.

Component library

When creating the page designs we worked in Sketch and used the symbols tool to create a component library. These components were used in several occasions in the design system.
